  • How long is the tour?
    Each tour is one-hour long.
  • Can I bring my own food and drinks on the tour?
Absolutely! Feel free to bring some food and drinks on the tour. Please note: we do not have a liquor license and therefore all beverages must be non-alcoholic. Your captain will ask you to put away any alcohol if they see it onboard.
  • Where do the long rides depart?
All solar boat rides depart from the Spadina and Queens Quay Tiki Taxi dock. You will be brought to your tour vessel by a water taxi.
  • How many people can go on a long ride to Center Island?
The solar boats are limited to 12 passengers each.
  • Do you have lifejackets onboard?
Yes we do! Each tour boat has both adult and child lifejackets for everyone onboard. Your captain will point out where they are at the beginning of the tour, though you are not required to wear one during the cruise (but they are available if you would like one!)
  • Are electric boats safe?
Safety is our number one priority, slightly above having fun. Our vessels and crew are both certified by Transport Canada. The solar-electric technology powering your boat uses the newest technology for batteries, solar panels, and in addition your captain is fully trained in case of any emergency that may occur.
  • What happens if it rains?
In the event of inclimate weather, you will receive an email or phone call the morning of your tour. We can reschedule your tour for another day, or offer you a full refund for your tour.
  • Is there a restroom onboard?
Due to the 360° design of our boats, we do not have a restroom onboard. Public washrooms are available on Centre Island before and after each tour.
  • Can my dog join us on the tour?
Of course! Dogs, cats, and other pets are allowed to join the fun of our Solar Tours.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Tours cancelled more than 48 hours before the departure time will receive a full refund. Tours cancelled between 24 and 48 hours of the departure time will receive a partial refund of 50%. Tours cancelled less than 24 hours before the departure time will receive a partial refund of 25%. Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment.
  • Can I bring a stroller on the boat?
Yes you can! Your crew will even help load and deborah the stroller for you.
  • Can I bring a bike on the tour?
Due to limited space on the boat, we ask anyone cycling on the islands to lock their bike on Centre Islandprior to boarding. Toronto Island Solar Tours is not responsible for any lost or damaged bikes while on the tour.
  • What happens if I miss the boat?
We ask all passengers to arrive at the departure point 10-15 minutes before your scheduled departure time. This will allow you to check-in with your captain, and speeds up the boarding process before departure. Late arrivals to private tours may have the length of their tour reduced. Anyone arriving after the boat has already departed will not be able to join the tour, and a refund will not be given.
  • Is it a private tour?
If you want it to be! When selecting the available times on our booking page, you will have the option to "Book entire tour." This will only be an available option for fully open tours (12 available seats). Those who wish to book a private tour will have the entire boat to themselves and up to 11 other people. Transport Canada limits our passenger capacity to 12 passengers on each boat, and we ask you keep your group at or below this number.
